Sanne: Craving something sweet, but want to avoid refined sugar? Try these delicious almost-chocolate date balls. They are packed with lots of good stuff, but taste like chocolate, and the date/cocoa combo will satisfy any sweet tooth. They are great as an after work-out treat, or a pick-me-up in the afternoon or any other time, when you want to treat yourself.
The measurements are approximate. Add more coconut oil and dates, if the date ball mix is too dry. The cacao nibs add intensity to the chocolatey flavor as well as a nice, subtle crunch, but if you’re out of cacao nibs, or they aren’t available in the grocery store, just add a little more cocoa powder. The coconut oil can also be replaced with other kinds of oil. I ran out of coconut oil while shooting the video below, so I added sunflower oil instead, and it worked just fine. Just make sure you don’t use anything too flavored (that extra virgin truffle olive oil probably won’t work).
